What is PSC's DSL?
PSC's offers Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology: You receive fast broadband Internet service over your existing phone line, but can still use the phone line for calls at the same time. You are not required to "dial-up" and "connect" each time you want to use the Internet (Please note that the service does require you to log on, a process that takes 1-2 seconds).
Who can get PSC's DSL?
PSC's DSL is available to all "qualified" Perry-Spencer RTC phone customers. Because DSL technology does have some restrictions such as distance from the telephone company's serving wire center, PSC must qualify the location of a Perry-Spencer RTC customer requesting the service. There is absolutely no cost or obligation to see if your phone line qualifies for this service.
If you're not a Perry-Spencer RTC customer but are interested in other broadband connection options, Fast-Connect Wireless High Speed Internet service (available to Tell City, Troy, Cannelton and parts of Hancock County, Kentucky customers) and PSC Wireless High-Speed Internet (available to customers in Birdseye, Ferdinand, Huntingburg, Ireland, Jasper, Saint Anthony, Schnellville, Dale, Gentryville, Grandview, Reo, Rockport and Santa Claus).
What do I need to get PSC's DSL service?
You will need to have an Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer. PSC can refer you to a local computer store that will sell and install this card. How can I tell if I have an Ethernet Network Interface Card in my computer?
PSC provides two (2) installation options: Self-Install Kit and PSC Technician Install. See "Pricing" for more information.
What is the minimum PC System Configuration?
Minimum Macintosh System Configuration
What speeds are available and how much do they cost?
See "Pricing" for a list of available connection speeds and pricing plans.
Does my computer need any special equipment?
The customer is responsible for installation of the Network Interface Card (NIC) in their computer. Connecting additional computers to the DSL service is the responsibility of the customer and is not supported by PSC Technical Support or installation technicians.
Can I connect my Wireless/DSL Internet to more than one computer?
Yes. The easiest method would require you to purchase a broadband router (sometimes called a DSL/Cable router), sold in most computer stores. Below are some examples of broadband routers:
